Kerry told the students that if they studied hard they could do well, but if they didn't "you get stuck in Iraq." His office said he neglected to add the punch line: "Just ask President Bush."
Is just wrong. I honestly think that is how he felt, and in trying to ad lib the "joke", his subconscious took over. (He really should have stuck with the written word, or his writers should have been a bit more succinct in what they were trying to convey)
Not much of an apology either, and a bit to late for damage control. In a world where the decision on who to vote for, or what party should be in charge, comments and actions such as these make or break you and/or your party. Maybe there will be some serious thought behind the words that flow so glibly from politicians mouths... And maybe winged pigs will fly backwards on Pluto.
"I said it was a botched joke. Of course, I'm sorry about a botched joke," Kerry, who had refused to apologize on Tuesday, said on the "Imus in the Morning" radio show on MSNBC.

Now, I am not normally big on following politics, but Mr. Kerry struck a serious nerve in me yesterday. His "blooper" was probably one of the worst ones ever committed by a national figurehead. This comment:

Since when did one get to be President of this here USA without an education? It's not like W is president on a GED! Education is not a guarantee and if I remember right.....Mr. Kerry was apologizing for voting to go to Iraq way back when we decided to fight this war on the the terrorists turf instead of ours. He VOTED FOR the war.
